To say “chaos” is not enough. Travelers do not leave a dry thread on the carrier and document their adventures on Twitter. And there was no shortage of those during Easter. First, on April 7, the ceiling fell off in the corridor of the Warsaw-Terespol train. A lot of people traveled on the “Niemcewicz” from the capital, e.g. students from Biała Podlaska. For a journey lasting more than 2 hours, you have to pay about PLN 20 in a second-class car.
“(…) the ceiling collapsed on travelers today. PKP Intercity, don’t forget to increase ticket prices for such additional attractions,” the Internet user wrote on Twitter, adding a recording that documents everything. – “One girl was hit in the shoulder, there were people there, because there were no free seats” – wrote another passenger.
The accident occurred shortly after leaving Warsaw. “The conductor came after about 5 minutes even though he had been informed straight away. He didn’t ask anything about our health, just started repairing the ceiling. After the repair, he told me to show the tickets and that’s it,” the author of the recording reported on Twitter.
The railway company assures that the conductor team immediately repaired the fault.
– In the car, a structural element forming the ceiling fell off and stopped on the securing strip. The monitoring recordings show that at that moment there was one person there, but he did not report the need for medical assistance – says Marta Ziemska from the press office of PKP Intercity. – The passenger reported the defect to the conductor team, which repaired it – adds Ziemska.
Before leaving for the route, the train was technically checked. – Upon arrival at the destination station, it was sent for re-inspection by the auditor. A special internal commission was also appointed to thoroughly investigate what was the cause of the incident – emphasizes the representative of PKP Intercity.
He wanted a girlfriend for Christmas
Passengers had another surprise on Easter Sunday.
– I wanted to go to my girlfriend in Biała Podlaska for Christmas – says Mateusz, who described the story on Twitter. – Through megaphones at the Gdański Railway Station it was announced that a train to Terespol would arrive, and then it was repeated that it was already on the platform, so I got on – our interlocutor reports. – And before entering, I asked the conductor for the number of the car and he directed me.
However, shortly after leaving the station, the train stopped. – It turned out that he was going to Budapest, not Terespol. Someone pressed the emergency brake – explains a traveler who, due to an incorrect message at the station, did not reach his girlfriend. He’s going to file a complaint. “But as far as I know, I’m not the only one who got on the wrong train,” he admits.
And PKP Intercity replies that “they are sorry about this situation”. – We assure you that as a carrier, we make every effort to minimize the possibility of errors related to the content of messages – ensure employees of the press office.
