There is enormous interest in the retro Toyota, the automaker has stopped accepting orders

Although Toyota offers modern land cruisers in a number of versions, in addition to them, customers in Australia and the Middle East can also buy the 70 series, which has been on the market with short breaks since 1984. It was last updated in 2016.

Well, they can’t – the carmaker in Australia has suspended orders because waiting times for car delivery have become unbearable – up to years. It is not known if the situation is similar in the Middle Eastern markets.

But the reason is not only in the chip or other crisis of the car market, but also in the huge interest of customers. “Supply is affected by the never-ending production disruptions facing the automotive industry around the world. At the same time, the popularity of the model among Australian customers is a record,” the Australian division of Toyota quotes the website carexpert.com.au, which brings the news.

“Strong demand and supply chain issues across the automotive market mean we are unable to fulfill orders faster. That’s why we’ve decided to suspend taking new orders for the Land Cruiser 70,” said Sean Hanley, vice president of Australian sales and marketing. This country is generally the strongest market for land cruisers.

The Toyota Land Cruiser 70 has a 4.5-liter eight-cylinder diesel under the hood that produces 205 horsepower and 430 Nm. It is connected to a manual five-speed gearbox, a reduction gear and all-wheel drive are a matter of course.

The engine would currently meet the Euro 5 emission standard, but it is still not enough for import to Europe, and there are also other safety requirements that the old model cannot meet. So we have to wait for official sales in Europe, even if Toyota could produce more units than customers want.
