The world’s tallest and fastest triple-launch roller coaster opened at Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio. We are talking about a vehicle that reaches a speed of 193 kilometers per hour and reaches up to 128 meters in height.
The attraction marks the debut of Lightning trains for roller coasters from an Italian company, Zamperla, and represents a huge step forward in the technology of this type of roller coaster.
“Top Thrill 2 is a unique attraction for Cedar Point, Zamperla and the entire entertainment industry,” said Antonio Zamperla, CEO and President. “This project means a lot to our 450 employees, who are thrilled to have brought the next generation of roller coaster design technologies to the global market.”
Top Thrill 2 is the fastest triple launch roller coaster in the world. It features three adrenaline-pumping throws, each with moments of airtime (i.e. the feeling of weightlessness), plus the world’s fastest backflip:
• First launch, forward: 119 km/h
• Second launch, backwards: 163 km/h
• Third launch, forward: 193 km/h.
