Hamburg. As of Monday, the ver.di trade union is calling on employees in the private banking sector and public banks in Hamburg to go on a warning strike lasting several days. In the private banking sector, this affects the employees of Commerzbank, Deutsche Bank and UniCredit on February 14th and 15th. The Hamburger Sparkasse has been called on to represent the public banks and is on strike for one day longer, from February 14th to 16th. Overall, ver.di expects around 500 employees to take part in the strike.
Alexandra Luerssen, trade union secretary ver.di Hamburg: „Our ver.di members in Haspa are angry. That’s why they decided at the last general meeting that they would add another day of warning strikes and strike for a total of 3 days in a row. With this they want to signal that it is serious and that we can cause unrest in the bank.”
Taking into account the high inflation in 2021 and the expected inflation in 2022, a contract in both tariff areas would mean real wage losses for the employees, according to ver.di. Next week’s strikes are part of a nationwide wave of warning strikes. The next hearing dates have not yet been scheduled.
