“There is a sporting point to do with the leaders”

By finishing second in Group B of National 2, C ‘Chartres Football narrowly missed the climb for the second year in a row. Coach Jean-Guy Wallemme takes stock for Actufoot.

What was your reaction to the FFF’s decision to stop the N2 championship?

A big disappointment necessarily since even if we know that the situation is not easy, and that the decisions are also not easy to take, we had the opportunity and we would have liked to clearly play our future on the field. There were 9 days left, we were 10 times first, 8 times second, best attack, 2nd best defense, best goal-average, best team on the ranking between confrontations on the first 6. And, compared to our direct competitors, we had Rouen and Saint-Brieuc at home.

What is your future with Chartres?

Compared to this new project (merger between FC Chartres and Chartres Horizon in 2018, Editor’s note), I had a two-year contract plus an additional year in the event of a rise. Last season, we missed the climb by finishing second. And, this year, we were in the final stretch and we had all our strength like others. There is a sporting point to do with the leaders, it is expected in the coming days. We will see the rest. It takes away the opportunity of a future job and it is not obvious in the current crisis.
