There is a Sandworm-like Sighting on Mars, what is it?

Jakarta – NASA continues to discover new things in Mars exploration. Their latest find is a charred sandworm-like appearance emerging from an ancient crater.

This is known from the latest photos shared by NASA’s Mars rover, Curiosity. The Mars rover has captured the twisted structure in Gale Crater thought to have been formed 3.7 billion years ago by a massive meteor impact.

The purpose of sending Curiosity to Mars is to study whether the planet ever had the right environmental conditions to host life.

“Evidence suggests Gale Crater (and Mars in general) as a place where life, if it ever arose, may have persisted for some time,” NASA said.

When this photo was uploaded on the SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) Institute social media, netizens were busy commenting on it and giving their best guess. Some call it a lightning strike in the sand, a petrified root, even a serpent god.

“The spikes are most likely cement fillings from ancient faults in sedimentary rock. The rest of the rock is made of softer, eroded material,” the SETI Institute reported in the post.

The explanation is plausible, but not enough to convince the skeptics. People following NASA records find a variety of strange sightings, ranging from ‘tomb doors’ last May, to carvings of faces half buried on Mars. So, what is it really?
