Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka parked his official car in front of SMK Batik 2 Surakarta, Saturday (21/8) night. The school, which is located in Pajang Village, Laweyan District, is rumored to be holding Face-to-face Learning (PTM) on Monday (23/8) tomorrow. The announcement of PTM is said to have been distributed to parents of students.

According to information, SMK Batik 2 Surakarta plans to hold a Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM) simulation to test the readiness of their internet network. The school has even circulated a letter of notification to parents regarding the implementation of the AKM simulation.
Gibran regretted that SMK Batik 2 Surakarta did not coordinate with the Solo City Government before notifying the students’ parents.
“The school has distributed letters to parents of students. Just ask the principal if there is a permit. Have you been to the Covid-19 Task Force,” he said.
According to Gibran, the mistake made by SMK Batik 2 Surakarta is fatal considering that there are still many students in Solo who have not received the vaccine. Moreover, Solo is still included in PPKM Level 4 which is not yet allowed to hold PTM.
“We still have 70,000 students who have not been vaccinated. Why are PTMs required to be patient first,” he said.
Currently, Gibran’s official car is still in front of the entrance of SMK Batik 2 Surakarta. A number of Linmas members from Pajang Village and Satpol-PP guard the car with the police number AD 1 A. Gibran did not answer with certainty when the car will be taken.

When confirmed, the Deputy Principal for Student Affairs at SMKK Batik 2 Surakarta, Erwin Ahmad Anasalis, admitted that he invited a number of students to school on Monday (23/8) to take part in the AKM simulation.
“In the circular, the plan was for a simulation, but it has been cancelled,” he said.
However, he denied that his party held PTM secretly.
“From the beginning, there was no PTM,” he said.
He also admitted that he had not coordinated with the Solo City Government and the Covid-19 Handling Task Force regarding the implementation of the simulation.

Contacted separately, the Secretary of the Education and Culture Office (Disdikbud) of Central Java Province, Suyanta explained that his party had indeed made a circular to SMA/SMK in Central Java to hold AKM simulations on August 23-25. The directive is in line with a circular from the Ministry of Education so that each school conducts AKM simulations.
“In the Ministry’s Circulation (Cultural Education, Research and Technology) students can optionally attend or not,” he said.

He has also communicated with the Head of the Regional VII Disdikbud Branch of Central Java Province to immediately coordinate with the principals of SMA/SMK schools in Solo to cancel the face-to-face simulation.
