There is a new viaduct in Opole. The workers have already removed the formwork, and the construction has connected the abutments over ul. Oleska. Work progress in Eastern Opole

Work on the construction of the Opole Wschodnie transfer center and reconstruction of the intersection of ul. Oleska, Bohaterów Monte Cassino, Nysa Łużycka, Battalions of Peasants and Rataj are in full swing. See photos.

Workers building the Opole Wschodnie transfer center and rebuilding the nearby intersection have already removed the formwork from the new viaduct, which was thrown over Oleska Street.

A concrete crossing will improve traffic from Plebiscytowa Street towards Zaodrze. In turn, at the exit from it, pavements are already paved.

Pedestrian and bicycle paths are also created along ul. Battalionów Chłopskich towards the intersection with ul. Luboszycka.

It also happens on the other side of the railway embankment, from the side of Rataja Street. There, workers are laying the reinforcement of the future tunnel, which will be cut under the railway line and will enable the passage from ul. Katowicka towards the Armii Krajowej estate.

This structure will be pressed into the embankment – says Adam Leszczyński from the Municipal Road Administration in Opole.

The construction of the second tunnel is being prepared at ul. Oleska along ul. Battalions of Peasants and Monte Cassino Heroes. It will streamline traffic towards Zaodrze – ul. Plebiscite.

Works related to the construction of acoustic screens and a bus station next to the University of Opole, in the place where petrol station Lotus. Platforms have already been built, pavements are being built.

The works were to be completed

Let us remind you. The construction of the Opole Wschodnie transfer center is one of the largest and most expensive road investments in the city in recent years.

Its cost is as much as PLN 140 million. The current date of putting it into service is the end of June 2021. Originally, the works were to be nearing completion, but the contractor asked for a postponement of their completion.

Reason? The contractor – Banimex – came across installations in the ground that were not planned. This issue was also influenced by the works commissioned by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe at the Opole Wschodnie station.

The City Hall also had to add PLN 3 million to additional works that were not previously included in the cost estimate, but were released during the works.

The railroad did its job

Earlier, as part of the same project, PKP Polskie Lnie Kolejowe renovated the Opole Wschodnie station, which together with the bus station being built next to the University of Opole, will form a transfer center.

Kolek built two new platforms, bus shelters, renovated the station building, replaced tracks and turnouts, and built two new viaducts.

Workers rebuilding the Opole Wschodnie station also dismantled the characteristic columns that supported the crossings and installed them as elements of the new main shed that was built on the platforms.
