The director of the Children’s Hospital of Pereira Rossell, Alvaro Galianaanalyzed the impact of the measure to suspend the vaccination against him covid-19 in children under 13 years of age, two weeks after the ruling.

Although he considers that it is still too early to measure the incidence in the immunity of this population, he affirmed: “We are already concerned that this ridiculous decision of the Uruguayan Justice has left without vaccinating such a significant number of children and adolescents, who require of that vaccine.
–
The infectologist also pointed out that the decision made by Judge Alejandro Recarey has no scientific basis and that the vaccine provided in Uruguay is “safe, effective, more than evaluated throughout the world.”
–
With more delay in reimplementation, “there is a greater risk of causing harm in children who have not received their vaccination. Children who could be well immunized are not,” she added.
RESPIRATORY INFECTIONS
With the winter holidays, the level of circulation of respiratory infections in children decreased, although the level of hospitalizations at the Pereira Rossell Hospital is still high. The health center comes with a high occupancy, with between 15 and 20 daily hospitalizations, but with a similar number of discharges each day.
