There is a fascinating rose nursery in Kontich

The rose nursery in Kontich has always fascinated Patrick Forêt. The orange-purple glow that reflects everywhere. The pink captured in the greenhouses. The vending machine that delivers bouquets, mechanically assembled, to passers-by who quickly need or want to make a gesture with flowers.

And then at night, how the lighting gives the entire environment an alienating, cinematic atmosphere.

In the greenhouses themselves the heat is oppressive – all respect for the people who work there. Most of their lives take place on the property. Some even live there.

And then there is the orange container. Reassuring perhaps. Roses are also dumped. (kw, btj)

‘The rose factory’ by Patrick Forêt can be seen from 10/3 in the exhibition ‘Opus One’ in CCHA in Hasselt. It is part of the selection of the best final photography works of the past year that Breedbeeld, the Flemish support center for image makers, annually puts in the spotlight.
