The Trump effect feared by tourism professionals has not happened, at least not among the French.
According to attendance figures revealed Tuesday, March 20 by the City of New York, 767,000 French tourists visited the Big Apple in 2017, against 745,000 in 2016. A record, according to NYC & Company, the body responsible for tourism promotion. The French are ranked 5th among international tourists in New York, behind the British, Chinese, Canadians and Brazilians.
A total of 62.7 million tourists visited New York in 2017, including 13.1 million international visitors. A record too, driven by good economic conditions in the United States and the continued context of global growth.
The projections for 2018 are good, according to the City. 65.1 million visitors are expected next year (+ 3.7% compared to 2017), including 13.7 million internationals. 800,000 French should cross the Atlantic.
