So far in 2024, Mexico has added 588 deaths and 13,531 confirmed infections of covid-19which was equivalent to 10.2% of the total number of suspected cases, which amounted to 133,233.
The Ministry of Health reported that during epidemiological week number 37 – which ran from September 8 to 14 – 20 coronavirus patients died and 270 new infections were reported, so there was no variation compared to previous days.

In its report, the federal agency reiterated that currently confirmation for covid-19 cases is only through the RT-PCR testin follow-up to the update of the standardized guideline for epidemiological and laboratory surveillance of viral respiratory disease 2024.
“Confirmation by rapid antigen tests, association or clinical epidemiological ruling are no longer used for epidemiological surveillance, due to the end of the Covid-19 health emergency,” he said.
He explained that 64.5% of patients who were reported with COVID-19 did not require hospitalization.
CDMX, with the highest number of covid-19 infections
Mexico City continued to top the list of confirmed cases of covid-19 with 3,190. Querétaro followed with 1,161; Nuevo León with 1,110; State of Mexico with 1,085 cases; and Puebla with 552.
Regarding the deaths from covid-19the country’s capital also had the highest number of deaths, registering 79. It was followed by Puebla with 46; Hidalgo with 35, State of Mexico with 34, and Veracruz with 32 deaths.
