There has never been such a concentrated atmosphere of protests – 2024-10-07 09:49:45

/Poged.info/ Public trust in BSP is growing, but in GERB and the ruling parties – is decreasing

“Such a concentrated atmosphere of protests has never existed”. This was stated on the air of BNT by the chairman of the National Assembly of the BSP, Mihail Mikov. He recalled that in 2013, the previous government of GERB left not only because of the protests about the price of electricity, but also because of the public tension, which reached a very high boiling point, after the social freeze of incomes and social payments. “Now those in power are following the same path,” the leader of the left was emphatic. He emphasized that it is no coincidence that the latest sociological studies show a steady trend of trust growth only in BSP and a decrease in trust in GERB and the ruling parties.

Mikov emphasized that the Committee on Internal Security and Public Order in the Parliament gave an objective assessment of what the rulers call a reform in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He emphasized that there were many voices not only from police officers, but also from experts and former employees of the Ministry of the Interior for the fact that at this very moment for Europe, the world and Bulgaria – to demotivate the employees in the system in order to save 65 thousand . BGN, not worth it. “The proposed reforms lead to demotivation of the police, to protests and in no way increase the capacity of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the fight against crime,” said the leader of the Socialists.

On the occasion of what is happening in the health care system and the doctors’ protests, Mikov said: “First of all, I sympathize with the patients. What’s happening in health care is making it less accessible and more expensive.” He emphasized that in order to save money for the Health Fund, patients are made to pay. As an example, Mikhail Mikov gave the choice of a nurse and orderly, in order to reach into the patient’s pocket and not reach out to the National Health Insurance Fund, to which the patient had previously paid his contribution. He described the state of the sector in the following words: “Complete chaos in health care, accumulation of liabilities in state and municipal hospitals and profits in private ones. The doctor’s protest is an indicator of the problems in the system”.

On the subject of mothers’ requests for disabled children, the leader of the left emphasized that last autumn BSP raised the issue when the budget was adopted, but it was rejected by the majority with the argument that there was no money. “It’s not that there is no money, but it is distributed unfairly,” commented the BSP chairman. As an example, he gave the jobs under the subsidized employment program distributed to the big players – “30 subsidized workers in Domuschiev, and 3 in Vidin, because unemployment in Vidin is the highest in Bulgaria and the EU.”

The BSP is being renewed and rejuvenated

Mikhail Mikov stated that the party’s preparations for the upcoming Congress are ongoing and 2/3 of the conferences have passed. “It makes a happy impression that about 50% is the renewal and rejuvenation of the presidents of the organizations, which is more than the mandated term,” he said. According to him, this is an extremely good trend and it affects the entire asset and at all levels of the party – young municipal councilors, party chairmen, delegates to the Congress and will be transferred to the composition of the national leadership.

When asked about the missing money from the BSP’s parliamentary coffers, Mikov noted that it is not about the BSP’s money and funds from its party coffers, but about the collected voluntary contributions from the representative funds of the people’s representatives from the party. He clarified that it is a matter of funds collected in a period longer than the current 43rd National Assembly, and concerns at least two or three parliamentary groups back. The chairman of the BSP explained that there is a committee of five people’s representatives that is examining the case and will make a decision. “This in a news story that is often overexposed to hide the big issues – progressive taxation, the differential rate of VAT on children’s goods and the big questions of the economy. In the first place, the alternative to the right-wing government that is ruining Bulgaria must be placed”, the leader of the left was categorical.

BSP stands firm and looks ahead

Mikov emphasized that at the discussion organized today by PES President Sergey Stanishev, Giacomo Filibek, Deputy General Secretary of PES, stated the following: “Whoever says there is no left and right is hiding something!” He usually hides his right-wing nature”.

“There is a left and a right, and we from the BSP represent the left,” said Mihail Mikov. He emphasized that an assessment of the real left and those claiming to be part of it can only be made on the facts. According to him, when they are anti-social, this party cannot claim to be left-wing. “Participation in the left government determines who is where today,” commented the chairman of the BSP.

Mikov agreed with the words of PES President Sergey Stanishev that the BSP has filled the left space and it is a fact that there is no other political force on the left, especially of the SYRIZA type. “As much as the detractors of the BSP may not like it – the BSP stands firm and looks ahead”, concluded the chairman of the Socialists.
