Jurijs Perevoščikovs, director of the Department of Infectious Disease Risk Analysis and Prevention at the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (SPKC), told reporters on Tuesday after a Cabinet meeting in two educational institutions in Latvia where Covid-19 was diagnosed.
According to him, as of Tuesday afternoon, 19 educational institutions affected by Covid-19 in Latvia are known. Of these, 11 are schools, five kindergartens and two universities.
The SPKC currently works almost daily with educational institutions where cases of Covid-19 have been identified, as both children and teachers, educators and teachers are ill.
“Most cases are brought in. Children, teachers become infected in their families, maybe elsewhere. Even if the class or group the infected person attends is subject to home quarantine, it is very important to identify contacts, warn, continue targeted control measures in relation to with an affected group or class, “said a spokesman for the SPKC.
In at least two institutions, the disease has spread locally and affected more than one or two classes or groups. And stricter restrictive measures have been adopted against these institutions.
It has already been reported that a total of 32 cases of Covid-19 were registered in Latvia last day, but one person who was confirmed to be infected with Covid-19 died, according to data compiled by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control.
