There has been a change of prime minister in Ireland
After a two-year hiatus, Leo Varadkar returned to the presidency of the Irish Prime Minister. He previously led the Irish government from 2017 to 2020.
Former Prime Minister Michael Martin has resigned and said leading the government was the honor of his life.
Varadkar can be seen as a symbol of the modernization of the previously very conservative Irish society. This is because he is gay and comes from a mixed family. Varadkar’s father is a doctor of Indian descent and his mother is an Irish nurse.
