They are investigating the causes of the serious bus accident between Svilengrad and Topolovgrad. The accident occurred shortly after 6pm on Sunday. 6 ambulances, 7 police teams and 5 firefighters were sent to the scene of the accident.
There are two main versions that the investigators are working on: a human error and a sudden technical malfunction. The bus was on the Kavala – Burgas route.
The asphalt was in normal condition, there were visible marks, but the road was slippery, which likely led to the crash, the prosecutor’s office said in a briefing.

As a result of the accident, a 68-year-old woman from Burgas died and 19 people were injured. Some of them were hospitalized. 4 children were also traveling on the bus, 2 with very minor injuries.
The patients’ conditions are good, said Dr. Georgi Gelov of Haskovo hospital, where 10 of the victims are hospitalized. Four of them have fractures, the driver and the tour guide have light fractures. All are in contact and without danger of life, assoc. Gelov confirmed.
Health Minister Dr Asen Medzhidiev also visited the injured in Haskovo hospital.
“We are in contact with the manager of the transport company. The bus has undergone a technical inspection, it is technically correct, the driver is very experienced,” said Magdalena Miltenova, president of the Confederation of Hauliers.
“I can’t say exactly what happened. We have information from local carriers that the road is not in good condition, there is no lighting. I don’t know what brand it was, I can’t judge from the photos,” he added.
And he confirmed that there were seat belts in the bus, but he didn’t know if they were on.
