There are seven Poblano migrants killed in New York by COVID-19

The government of Puebla reported that there are 7 people from Puebla who died in New York, United States, as a result of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

David Méndez Márquez, Puebla’s government secretary, said that the seven people who died were from: Chinantla (2 cases); Nealtican; Huejotzingo; Axutla; Coatzingo, and Piaxtla.

Until last Monday, only the deaths of people from Axutla and Coatzingo had been reported. The official did not offer further details on the five new deaths.

Axutla’s case was a 45-year-old man whose family decided to bury him in New Jersey.

While the case of Coatzingo was a 65-year-old man who worked in a restaurant. His body will be cremated in New York and his remains transferred to Puebla until the contingency in the United States ends.

The Secretary of Government, David Méndez Márquez, pointed out that in the media and social networks there is talk of more deaths, but it will be until they confirm it with the families and with the Mexican consul in NY, that they will make it official.

Méndez Márquez added that they are also assisting one more from Puebla in Sydney, Australia, who has already been given advice and the corresponding monitoring for her repatriation.

So far, in Puebla there are 92 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 42 people hospitalized, and 52 under surveillance.

Federal Health authorities reported this Tuesday that in Mexico there are 29 deaths from COVID-19 and 1,215 confirmed cases, in addition to 3,511 suspected cases.
