Slavi Trifonov stated that not five, but seven employees of the investigated Nexo cryptobank donated BGN 20,000 each to “Democratic Bulgaria” in 2021.
“On October 22, 2021, five Nexo employees – three women and two men – made donations of BGN 20,000 each to the party headed by Hristo Ivanov. And three days later, two more Nexo employees thought of donating BGN 20,000. The figure is easily established after comparing the names of the donors with their LinkedIn profiles,” he wrote on his Facebook profile.
“So, the total amount of donations from Nexo employees for the election campaign of “Yes, Bulgaria” amounts to BGN 140,000. Last night I watched Hristo Ivanov in “Panorama” and there he said that he will explain about these donations. But I don’t see much interest from the media in asking him to explain himself. I don’t see much interest in the topic from the moralists on duty in social networks.”
“And the questions could be very interesting. For example:
– How come seven people from the same company come up with the same idea to donate the same amount to the same party? And five of them make the donation even on the same date?
– Since the donations in question do not appear to be an act of individual will of the employees, was there a hidden agreement between the leader of “Yes, Bulgaria” and the leaders of Nexo?
– Did the leader of “Yes, Bulgaria” promise political favors to the leaders of Nexo?
– Could the 140,000 BGN in question be counted as a donation to Nexo, or was the party leader worried about his ties to the mildly dubious cryptobank?
– Did “Yes, Bulgaria” receive donations from Nexo employees for the election campaign in September 2022, when it is already known that there are investigations and lawsuits against Nexo in the USA and Great Britain respectively?
– What responsibility will the pro-Atlantic and pro-European party “Yes, Bulgaria” take if it turns out that it is financed by a company that launders Russian money and violates sanctions against the Kremlin?
And finally, an off-topic question. I have been listening to Hristo Ivanov’s statements and requests for the past few days regarding the possibilities of forming a government with the support of GERB. Well, I want to ask him:
Christo, are you the long arm of GERB?”
