Immediately after the embarrassing 0: 4 defeat against Hoffenheim on the last matchday, Roman Bürki criticized his teammates. In an interview with «Bild», he now takes Jadon Sancho in the mangle.

Jadon Sancho was in the starting XI 25 times in the past Bundesliga season, and he was substituted 7 times. The Englishman scored a sensational 17 goals and prepared 17 more. Absolute dream values. And Sancho is still young, in March he celebrated his 20th birthday during the Corona break.

Sancho always makes headlines off the pitch. Sometimes he returns from an international match too late, sometimes he misses a team meeting, sometimes he creates a bad mood as stinky boots. Sancho was recently fined 10,000 euros for violating the hygiene requirements of the DFL when visiting a hairdresser. Sancho was unreasonable and wrote on Twitter: “An absolute joke, DFL.” You’d better not do that either.

With his lack of discipline, he naturally gets coach Lucien Favre into trouble again and again. If Favre leaves his star player outside, he risks criticism from outside, if he lets him play, then the team within the team threatens to go wild.

Bürki: “The learning effect must come at some point”

Roman Bürki has a clear opinion with regard to Sancho’s behavior: «You cannot always say:‹ He is still young, he is still young … ›The learning effect must come at some point.» There are no special rights in football. «There are rules in a team. And those who do not stick to it will be punished with sport. Incidentally, this hurts players a lot more than if you pay them a fine, ”says Bürki.

Bürki, on the other hand, takes a positive view of the performance of the ever criticized Lucien Favre. Above all, he is annoyed by the comparisons between Favre and BVB icon Jürgen Klopp: “You can’t give a coach a fair chance if everyone talks about someone else,” says the 29-year-old.

Klopp is a top trainer, won many titles and triggered a lot of emotions in the region. “But you can’t compare him to Lucien Favre. And again: The coach we have now set the BVB point record – not Jürgen Klopp! I can’t understand how to question a coach who sets the club’s record per game. I have absolutely no doubts about the coach, »said Bürki.
