NBA 2K21 recently started having ads that cannot be skipped.
Players found out about this in recent days. The ads appear during loading screens and are about the Oculus Quest 2, among other things. However, the loading screens don’t seem to be displayed much longer than usual. Still, many players express – among others Reddit – their dissatisfaction with ads in a game for which they have paid a premium price.
The ads appeared for the seventh episode of MyTeam season 2, a show that is broadcast in-game before a competition. The advertisements appear on all systems.
2K Games added such ads to NBA 2K20 after launch last year. EA also did this in UFC 4 earlier this year, but decided on the ads to remove again after negative feedback from players.
NBA 2K21 is out now on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game will also be out on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S when the consoles launch.
