There are no goals in the first round of Leeds vs Chelsea

First half match between Leeds United and Chelsea ended 0-0. Even though they both created a number of opportunities, Leeds and Chelsea have not been able to score goals.

The course of the match

The match was running at high tempo in the early minutes. Chelsea had a chance in the eighth minute, but Kain Havertz failed to continue Christian Pulisic’s pass perfectly.

Shortly thereafter, from the counter attack, Leeds United broke into the Chelsea goal. Patrick Bamford who got the through ball then made a pass to Tyler Roberts who then slammed the ball into the empty net. However, the goal was disallowed because Bamford had already been caught offside.

In the 11th minute, Leeds almost conceded an own goal. Luke Ayling’s attempt to block the ball hit Diego Llorente and headed towards the goal. Luckily for Leeds, the ball hit the bar and was saved by Illan Meslier.

Five minutes later, it was Leeds’ turn that was saved by the crossbar. This time, Roberts’ kick which leads to the top right corner of the goal is pushed over by Edouard Mendy and hits the bar.

Ben Chilwell tries to open a shot from outside the penalty box. But the ball sideways from the Leeds goal after hitting a Leeds player.

Antonio Ruediger missed a corner ball that fell to his feet. His kick was not perfect and the ball was secured by Meslier.

Mason Mount’s efforts from outside the penalty box have not produced a goal for Chelsea either. Meslier pushed the ball away.

Hakim Ziyech lifted the ball into the penalty box and was greeted by Kai Havertz with a first time kick. But Haverzt’s shot from a narrow angle was still able to be stopped by Meslier.
