Since the start of vaccination in Mexico against covid-19 every day, on average, 123 Events Supposedly Attributed to Vaccination or Immunization (ESAVI) have been recorded, that is, one every 5 minutes.
Pfizer, followed by Janssen, AstraZeneca, Cansino, Sputnik and SinoVac are the vaccines that have caused the most ESAVIs per thousand doses applied, according to information from the Ministry of Health.
Of the 54 million 542 thousand 598 vaccines against covid-19 applied in the country between December 24 and last July 29, 26 thousand 702 ESAVIs have been reported, that is, 0.49 for every thousand doses.
Of these, 98%, which is equivalent to 26,114 were non-serious events and 2%, which translates to 588, were serious.
The main signs and symptoms presented in the non-serious ESAVIs registered were headache or headache, which represented 64.3%, that is, 16,794 cases; pain or tenderness at the application site, 46.6%, which is equivalent to 12,157; and asthenia or general fatigue, 40.8%, which translates into 10 thousand 665; while in severe ESAVI there were 270 cases of headache, 233 of asthenia and 205 of dyspnea or respiratory distress.
The most recent ESAVI report details that the proportion of serious and non-serious cases occurs among women, with 56% and 74%, respectively.
Regarding the age groups, non-severe ESAVI mainly occur in the group between 30 and 39 years of age, while severe ESAVI, in those over 60 years of age.
By priority groups, health personnel register the highest number of ESAVI, followed by older adults, teachers, people from 50 to 59 years old, 40 to 49 years old, 30 to 39 years old, 18 to 29 years old, pregnant women and borderlands.
However, within the priority groups for vaccination, older adults present the highest number of severe ESAVI, with 272 cases.
Statistics show that ESAVIs, in general, have occurred more frequently after the application of the first dose of the vaccine and decrease in the second.
Regarding the ESAVI notification, the entities that concentrate the largest number are the State of Mexico, with 3 thousand 496 cases; Mexico City, 3,105 and Jalisco, 2,515, which together account for 34.1% of the events supposedly attributed to vaccination.
In its report, the Ssa clarifies that the vaccines approved in Mexico are safe and ESAVIs are expected events in the application of any biological.
According to the reports, by January 30, 5,693 cases were registered; 10,640 for March 4; for the beginning of April 13 thousand 853 and for the 29 of that same month 17 thousand 27.
Meanwhile, by May 27, 19 thousand 776 ESAVI had already been registered and by July 1, 24 thousand 72.
