There are more Red Book argali in Mangistau

news-id-115643" style="display:inline;">Over the past three years, the number of argali in the region has increased by 18 percent. If in 2021 there were 861 of them, then in 2023 there are already 1059 heads.

The count of these animals was carried out from October 5 to October 11. The “census” of the inhabitants of the reserves was carried out by employees of the RGKP “PO Okhotzooprom” and the Institute of Zoology.

– The latest argali census recorded positive dynamics in the growth of the number of these animals. And this is gratifying, considering that they are endangered and are listed in the Red Book. This year, 42 artificial springs were created, which are used by the inhabitants of the reserve for watering. Comfortable stands have been installed for the animals, and the wells are fenced. Raid activities, including fire safety inspections, are carried out continuously, said employees of the Kyzylsay regional natural park.

It is noted that in Mangistau there are state natural reserves “Tasorpa”, “Zhabayushkan”, “Adamtas”, “Manashi”, which are under the jurisdiction of the state regional natural park “Kyzylsay”.
