– There are large resources on the way to the city – NRK Vestland

– The road will be closed until the morning when a geologist arrives at the site, says Svein Inge Harberg, leader of the site.

Naudetatane received notification of the slide right after the clock 21: 00 Wednesday evening.

The landslide crossed the road on the east side of the tunnel, about 200 metres from the tunnel opening. Several cars were in the area when large amounts of heavy snow fell down the mountainside and over the busy road. The Avalanche must be up to 2 meters high.

– We know that there have been cars heading towards the landslide from both directions, says Tom Johannessen, operations manager at the West Police District.

RV 5 is one of the main thoroughfares between Nordfjord, Sunnfjord and Sogn.

A car drove into the landslide and the driver of the car got out of the car himself.

– He had to ride with a snowplow away from the place and the car remains at the landslide, says Jorgen Bottker, traffic operator at The Road Traffic Center.

Dog search in the slide

A full alarm was sounded when the news came that it had crashed over the National Road in Sogndalsdalen. Crews from the police, fire department and the Red Cross came to the site.

Search crews from the Red Cross and Norwegian rescue dogs entered the area to see if there were more people who had been taken by the snow masses. One of the dog handlers was inside the slide itself. The victim had to retreat.

– It was simply too dangerous to go all the way into the area. We did not see around us, says Helene Saterdal, operational leader of Norwegian rescue dogs.

Late Wednesday night, the police considered that there were no people in the Avalanche and the rescue operation was closed.

FRUDALSTUNNELEN: the road is closed by a 2-300 meter wide landslide.

Will not be cleaned until tomorrow

– The police have released the area to us, says Geir Ove Engebo at the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.

Information guards have been sent out to stop traffic on both sides of the tunnel, both at Skei and in Sogndal.

– Thursday morning a geologist will come to look at the area. The slide will also be visible from a helicopter.

It will also be considered if more snow must be blown away from the mountainside.

The road is closed at the site and it will not be cleared until tomorrow.
