– There were 13,051 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the Czech Republic on Thursday. It’s roughly the same as on Wednesday, but the growth has slowed by about 1,100 cases compared to last Thursday. Recently, however, the increase in those infected has generally accelerated in a week-on-week comparison. However, the development may be influenced by the fact that Wednesday was a national holiday. 178,578 people currently suffer from covid-19 in the Czech Republic. Most of them are mild. This follows from the data of the Ministry of Health.
– According to the latest data, there are 6604 patients with covid in hospitals. Compared to last Thursday, the number of hospitalizations is higher by about 1,500. 1,031 patients are in a serious condition.
– On Thursday, President Miloš Zeman appointed Jan Blatný (for YES) Minister of Health. The new head of the office identified the need to change the perception of the situation and mood in society as his main task. According to him, the fear of a virus that paralyzes and divides people needs to be turned into respect. He said that government measures would not need to be substantially tightened.
