From the Immunization Program of the Ministry of Public Health, it is reported that during February the vaccination against yellow fever will be available in the following health centers:
·Salta Sanitary Unit, located at Vicente López and Pasaje Zorrilla, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
· Maternal and Child Public Hospital, Sarmiento 1301, on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
· Sr. Del Milagro Hospital, Sarmiento 557, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
·Hospital Papa Francisco, Calle 120 S/NB° Solidaridad, Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Oñativia Hospital, Paz Chaín 30, Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
·Comprehensive Health Station, Avenida de los Incas S/N Civic Center of Grand Bourg, from 9 to 12.
·Melchora Figueroa Hospital, Rosario de la Frontera, Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
·Hospital Del Carmen, San José de Metán, on Tuesdays from 8 to 12.
·Juan Domingo Perón Hospital, Tartagal, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
·San Vicente de Paul Hospital, Oran, Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
· Hospital Nuestra Señora del Rosario, Cafayate, Monday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
What is yellow fever
· It is a viral disease that is transmitted through the bite of certain species of mosquitoes. It can be serious and lead to death. It has no treatment, but it can be prevented:
· Through vaccination: provides protection from 10 days after application and lasts for life.
How to prevent
·Using repellents.
·Using long-sleeved clothing and light and uniform colors.
· Placing mosquito nets in your home.
· Eliminating containers that can accumulate water in homes.
Information for travelers
Vaccination is recommended if your destination is an area with proven risk of yellow fever transmission. Those who do not present contraindications or precautions should receive the vaccine at least ten days before arriving at their destination.
Some countries request as a requirement to enter their territory the presentation of the international certificate.
It is remembered that it is an endemic disease in tropical areas of Africa and Latin America, so it is recommended to apply it if you travel to any of these destinations.
