The countries with which Ukraine interacts in terms of obtaining assistance have “different interests”, and they do not always coincide with ours. President Volodymyr Zelensky stated this in an interview The Economist.

According to the head of state:
→ there are those in the West who does not mind a protracted warbecause it will mean the exhaustion of Russia, even if it means the death of Ukraine and will cost Ukrainian lives;
→ there are countries for which a quick end to the war would be betterbecause the market in Russia is large and the economies of these countries are suffering as a result of the war;
→ other really rich countries recognize Nazism in Russia and they definitely want Ukraine to win;
→ there are even smaller countries that fully support us, but they are more liberal and concerned about humanitarian issues. They want to the war ended quickly at any costbecause they believe that “people come first”.

In this regard, Britain is “definitely on our side” and “wants Ukraine to win and Russia to lose,” Zelensky said. “But I’m not ready to say whether Britain wants to prolong the war or not,” he added.
As for the United States, “let’s see” whether they are in the first group, Zelensky said.
“But they help. Many countries in Europe, especially in NATO, have, as our soldiers say, ‘a lot of tools’. That’s why the US has pushed many countries to help us, but a little slower than we need,” he said.
