There are an additional 5 million Sinovac vaccines and 1.08 million AstraZeneca vaccines

KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. Indonesia received a supply of Covid-19 vaccine from Sinovac in finished form under the Coronavac brand as much as 5 million and Astrazeneca vaccine as much as 1,086,000 doses. The two vaccines are imported through a direct purchase scheme mechanism.

“With the presence of the two vaccines, it means that Indonesia has received 208.7 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine,” said the Corporate Secretary and spokesperson for Bio Farma’s COVID-19, Bambang Heriyanto in a written statement, Friday (27/8).

According to him, the government continues to try to bring in vaccines to secure the stock of Covid-19 vaccines. According to data from the Ministry of Health, as of August 26, 2021, at 17.00, out of 34 provinces, only one province has less than 14 days of vaccine stock.

Bambang said that 123,256,044 vaccines have been distributed. Of these, 3 million doses of CoronaVac 1 dose, 89,366,140 doses of Bio Farma’s Covid-19 vaccine, 15,982,584 doses of AstraZeneca.

Then the Moderna vaccine is 7,558,810, CoronaVac 2 doses are 6,848,644 doses, and Sinopharm from the grant is 499,866 doses. The total vaccine distributed during 1-26 August 2021 alone reached 36,631,654 doses.

“Bio Farma will always continue to distribute Covid-19 vaccines to locations that need it in accordance with directions from the Ministry of Health,” he said.

Regarding vaccination efforts, Professor of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia, Prof. DR. dr. Soedjatmiko, SpA(K), MSi. welcomes Indonesia’s position which is ranked 6th in the world in terms of the number of people who have been vaccinated and 7th in the world in terms of the number of vaccination doses.

Currently, more than 92.8 million Indonesians have been vaccinated twice or once.

“Good and must be continued,” said Prof. Miko as Prof. Soedjatmiko was asked about the achievements of vaccination in Indonesia.

However, he sees the need for more vaccination locations. Then Prof. Miko also assessed the need for improvement in the coordination of calculating the need, delivery, and distribution of vaccines.

Asked about the fact that there are still people who refuse to be vaccinated, Prof. Miko emphasized, don’t wait for exposure to realize the dangers of Covid-19 and the importance of vaccination.

“Don’t be sorry if you get Covid-19, enter the ICU or die. The economy and the future of the family left behind will be terrible, we are still a pandemic,” said Prof. Miko.

Immunization expert, dr. Elizabeth Jane Soepardi, MPH. DSc added, to control the pandemic, the immunization target is to reach at least 70% of the total population to achieve herd immunity or herd immunity.

According to him, currently Indonesia has only reached 21%. Of course, a country with a smaller population than Indonesia can more easily approach the 70% figure.

dr. Jane said, given the limited number of vaccines, to break the chain of virus transmission, local governments are expected to prioritize areas with the most COVID-19 cases. Generally, many cases occur in areas that are more densely populated and have high mobility.

“In this way, the immunization coverage will automatically increase faster than vaccines that are evenly distributed,” said the Doctor of Health Services Research from Erasmus University, Netherland as quoted from the Covid-19 Task Force page.

dr. Jane also reminded people who are reluctant to be vaccinated, that the delta variant is much more contagious and the disease travels twice as fast and deadly.

“99% of Covid-19 cases in the United States are those who have not been immunized, anti-vaccine and anti-mask groups,” said dr. Jane.
