“Although monkeypox is said to be mild, the complications can be everywhere. The earliest is a complication on the skin, namely a secondary infection of the skin around the monkeypox rash,” he said at a press conference by the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) regarding monkeypox ( monkeypox), Tuesday (2/8/2022).
“Continuous infection can cause pneumonia, bronchopneumonia, then can enter the brain, can encephalitis. It can also continue in severity until sepsis and the patient will die,” continued Dr. Prasetyadi.
He further emphasized that the smallpox virus is transmitted through close contact. Since the most common symptom of monkeypox is a rash on the face and hands, it is important not to manipulate the findings of the rash on the body.
