In less than 48 hours, ten people (including two minors) were murdered in three massacres that took place in the departments of Cauca, Valle del Cauca and Cundinamarca. According to Indepaz, there are already 52 massacres that have occurred so far in 2023.
Colombia woke up yesterday with a new massacre. On this occasion, in the rural area of the municipality of Tuluá, department of Valle del Cauca, 4 women from the same family were murdered.
The event occurred in the Campoalegre corregimiento when, according to reports from the neighbors to the police, a man arrived at the house of his ex-sentimental partner, armed and shot at the people who were inside, his ex-wife, the ex-wife’s sister and two girls of eight and three years. Unfortunately, the minors were taken to the hospital, but due to the seriousness of the injuries, they lost their lives.
After committing the crime, the murderer, identified by the authorities as Jhon Freddy Córdoba Mosquera, fled the scene on a motorcycle. However, hours later he was found by the authorities, but he responded with shots, leading to a confrontation in which he lost his life.
The victims of this unfortunate event were identified as Yulieth Chamorro, the mother of the girls, Margot Chamorro, sister of the mother, and the minors Hellen Córdoba Chomorro and Dulce María Córdoba Chamorro.

According to a report presented by the Fundación Feminicidios Colombia, as of June 15, 2023, there have been 128 femicides in the country. The Institute of Legal Medicine has reported that 44,000 complaints of gender violence have been filed in the last six months of the year.

On the other hand, in the municipality of Corinto, department of Cauca, three young people, including two brothers, were murdered by heavily armed individuals.
The violent event took place on the road that goes from the Moroquera sector to the town of Caloto. There, the victims, who were traveling in a vehicle, were intercepted by armed subjects who forced them to get out of the car and then shot them to death.
According to authorities, two of the victims were identified as the brothers Yohimar and Marlon Moreno. Meanwhile, Leonardo González, coordinator of the Human Rights Observatory of Indepaz, explained that, in Corinto, Cauca, the Ombudsman’s Office had issued early alerts that warned of risks due to the presence and dominance of the Dagoberto Ramos structure, dissident of the Farc of the territory and marijuana trafficking.
“(…) The Ombudsman’s Office had already issued the Early Warning, AT, 067 of 2018 and a follow-up report on the 19th of 2022. There it is indicated that the presence of the dissident faction of the former Farc, mobile column Dagoberto Ramos exercises domain control of the area and has control of the production of marijuana trafficking,” Gonzalez maintained.

Meanwhile, in Soacha, Cundinamarca, a group of armed criminals entered a tire repair shop in Soacha, Cundinamarca, and killed three people who were there. The first hypothesis about the attack is that it was extortion.
Apparently, because one of the victims refused to pay and, hours later, the criminals returned and carried out the violent attack that resulted in the death of these members of the same family.
