Abbas Aliyev, chairman of YAP Absheron district organization
Thanks to the continuous development of cooperation between our state and the neighboring country Georgia, friendship and fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia are being strengthened and strengthened today. Traditional meetings between our countries serve to bring us closer to each other and make our peoples closer to each other. Mr. President Ilham Aliyev’s official visit to Tbilisi on October 8, 2023 and the statement he made to the press during the visit are of great importance. This was said by Abbas Aliyev, chairman of YAP Absheron district organization.
Abbas Aliyev noted that Mr. President Ilham Aliyev pointed out in his statement that active work is being done on the peace treaty to be signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia after Azerbaijan restored its territorial integrity as a result of the Second Karabakh War three years ago, and last month its sovereignty over the entire country. If we achieve this, then a completely new political situation will emerge in the South Caucasus. Our head of state stated that today several countries and, at the same time, some international organizations show their support for the normalization process between Armenia and Azerbaijan. If this is not one-sided and biased, of course, we accept any mediation and help. However, taking into account both the historical relations and the geographical factor, the most correct choice in this area could certainly be Georgia. Increasing the carrying capacity of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway more than 5 times and starting to operate in the near future will also serve to strengthen the Middle Corridor.
The projects implemented jointly by Azerbaijan and Georgia and jointly with other neighboring countries are of great significance. We have a strong political will and a strong infrastructure already in place. It should be noted that relations with Georgia are of special importance in Azerbaijan’s policy regarding neighboring countries. Our state is our own
Georgia plays an important transit role in the delivery of energy resources to European markets, as well as in the transportation of goods from East to West. There are active cooperation relations between our countries at the level of parliaments as well as in other areas. There are joint working groups in the legislative bodies of Azerbaijan and Georgia. The location of Azerbaijan and Georgia on the historical Silk Road and the joint implementation of large-scale energy and transport projects by our countries have increased the volume of cargo flow through our region many times. Within the framework of successful regional cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia, the implementation of large-scale global energy and transport-communication projects (Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline, Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, etc.) will contribute to peace in the region. and serves stability. We believe that this cooperation will become stronger in the near future.
