“During January – October 2021, 72 new cases of HIV-AIDS were reported. With details of 60 people living with HIV who have started ARV treatment, seven died and five have not started treatment,” said the Head of the Health Service (Dinkes), Puji Astuti, in commemoration of the Day World AIDS in the Marhaen Panti building, Boyolali Wednesday (1/12/2021).
From these data, as many as 83.3 percent of people living with HIV have just started treatment. . However, from the accumulation of 572 PLWHA, only 249 patients were treated with ARVs. The number of PLWHA who are still taking ARV or on ARV in Boyolali Regency until October 2021 is 249 PLWHA. This number does not reach half or only 43.5 percent.
So, continued Puji, there is still a need for efforts to increase the discovery of new PLWHA in Boyolali. The search was done through screening according to minimum service standards (SPM), partner notifications, looking for PLWHA lost to follow-up, PLWHA who had not taken ARVs and expanding HIV-AIDS support care and treatment (PDP) services at the Puskesmas.
“So we have expanded our test and treat services in the form of a comprehensive examination of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), HIV examinations, PDP HIV-AIDS in 13 services,” he explained.
These are, he explained, at Pandanarang Hospital, Simo Hospital, Boyolali Health Center 1 and 2, Teras Health Center, Banyudono Health Center 1, Ngemplak Health Center, Nogosari Health Center. Then the Andong Health Center, Ampel Health Center, Karanggede Health Center, Sawit Health Center and Juwangi Health Center.
Puji said that the causes of HIV-AIDS in Boyolali that are often found and the highest are deviant and heterosexual sex.
“Leave a message to the community that this case of HIV/AIDS stays away from the disease, but don’t stay away from the person. Because this is a disease that we must help to find, so that in the end we will get better treatment,” Puji hoped.
