Portugal has experienced a significant increase in infections in the last 24 hours. The latest Iberian bulletin reads: 646 new coronavirus cases in one day.

The high number scared the whole nation, as this is the highest daily number of infections on 20 April. However, the number is the lowest of other European nations.

The Portuguese Minister of Health, Jamila Madeira, explained during a press conference that “most of the new infections have occurred within families”. Situation therefore similar to the latest cases established in our country.

Cases of Covid-19 in Portugal, it should be noted, had dropped to around 100 per day in early August. But after many tourists returned home, the numbers increased, alarming the tourism industry in particular.

In fact, as early as mid-September, when we return to school and many workers return to the office, stricter measures will be applied. At the moment, however, the government has not yet announced the details.
