Spokesman for the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Mohammad Syahril, revealed that there were already three cases of the XBB variant of COVID-19. Symptoms that have appeared so far are reported to be mild.
Syahril rectifies the results of the COVID-19 Omicron XBB case previously reported in NTT, the 29-year-old woman is confirmed to be in Surabaya.
“So four cases were found. One in Surabaya, three in DKI,” Syahril explained at a press conference on Wednesday (26/10/2022).
The cause of the symptoms of the relatively mild variant of COVID-19, he said, was motivated by two things. One of these is characteristic of the Omicron subvariant itself.
“So COVID-19 SARS-CoV-2 always has mutations, but although the spread is faster, the severity is low, so people don’t get to the hospital, it is enough to self-isolate, the mortality rate is also not high”, has explained.
There was no significant change in the symptoms complained of by Omicron XBB COVID-19 patients. The most common symptoms encountered, called Syahril, include:
- Cough
- Having a cold
- Fever
- Weak body.
“But the symptoms aren’t serious,” he said.
The entry of the XBB variant of COVID-19, said Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, cannot yet be linked to the increase in daily cases.
