Head of Disease Prevention and Control Division of the Baubau Health Office, Marfiah Tahara, via a short message received in Kendari, Thursday (18/03/2021) stated that the average dengue fever cases are dominated by children under 10 years of age. Even so, there were no reports of death.
“This number is somewhat lower than the number of dengue cases in 2020 in the same period of 25 cases, with details of January 12 cases and February 13 cases,” he said.

He said that in reducing the number of dengue cases, his party had been working together with all health centers to continue to increase outreach to the public about the eradication of mosquito nests (PSN).
Because, according to him, the PSN movement is more effective in eradicating the mosquitoes that cause dengue fever compared to fogging.
“Because if the ‘fogging’ is only adult mosquitoes that die while the mosquito eggs are not. So the most effective thing is to eradicate mosquito nests,” said Marfiah.
He mentioned several places in the house that could become mosquito breeding grounds, including bathtubs and toilets, water reservoirs and used goods around the house such as tires, cans, bottles, glasses of mineral water, and all places that can hold water.
“For this reason, we hope that public awareness will be increased again by always cleaning places that can become mosquito breeding grounds to avoid this potential of dengue fever,” said Marfiah Tahara.[]
