The data from the authorities count 1,619 aggressors of women and girls who have been sentenced for gender violence registered from June 1, 2022 to May 31, 2023.
Of the total convictions, 1,396 were for sexual violence; followed by physical violence with 85; psychological violence 69, for femicidal violence there were 57 sentences and 12 for patrimonial violence.
With respect to the same period, but from 2021 to 2022, the data from the Prosecutor’s Office show 1,323 convictions for violence against women, of which 1,094 were for sexual violence, 86 for physical violence, 75 for physical violence; 54 for femicidal violence and 14 for patrimonial violence.
According to data from the Prosecutor’s Office, between 2022 and 2023, in the initial hearing stage, 2,449 cases of sexual violence went to the next stage, 914 for psychological violence; while 354 for physical violence, 236 for patrimonial violence and 67 for feminicide.
The data shows that of the total number of defendants presented at the hearing for the imposition of measures and considering all types of violence against women, 93% (6,216) correspond to sexual, physical and psychological violence, of which 60% (3,717) continued with the judicial process.
Regarding the preliminary hearing stage, the FGR managed to have 1,522 cases for sexual violence go to trial, 257 for psychological violence, 104 for property violence, 96 for physical violence and 86 for feminicide. At that stage, the public ministry obtained 65% (3,188) favorable results for the interests of the victims.
Finally, in the public hearing, the last stage of the judicial process, the Prosecutor’s Office achieved 1,167 convictions for sexual violence, 55 for femicidal violence; 53 for psychological violence, 35 for physical violence and 10 for property violence. At that stage, 1,194 defendants were prosecuted for different types of gender violence, 74% (1,484) had a result declared in favor of the victim, while 19% (369) were acquitted.
