The popularity of superhero movies is on the wane. This is according to a survey of more than two thousand adults. The reason is often cited as ‘superhero fatigue’.
This survey couldn’t have come at a worse time. Just after producer Kevin Feige announced the fifth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it appears that the hype surrounding these films is no longer at the level it was a few years ago.
Less attention
Of all the films in the fourth phase of the MCU, Spider-Man: No Way Home one of the few films with a global success level comparable to the previous one Avengers films.
82 percent of Marvel fans still like the movies, but this is a drop of 5 percentage points from 2021. Also, a third of fans say they are getting tired of the amount of MCU movies.
Number of movies
They certainly seem to have a point about that last aspect. The films that Feige still has on the agenda include a new Avengers, Captain America, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, Blade and much more. Marvel doesn’t seem to be finished for the time being.
