Israel labeled a Zionist state because it established a state by annexing territory Palestine. This movement was initiated by a Jewish political activist and journalist with Austrian-Hungarian citizenship named Theodor Herzl.
Israel’s invasion of the Gaza Strip, which is considered a genocide, has aroused the anger of the world community.
Global public condemnation of the Zionists refers to Israel, its allies and supporters carrying out brutality to exterminate Palestinians.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune said they would continue to try to stop the humanitarian tragedy of crimes committed by the Zionist entity in Gaza, quoted from Associated Press News.
Reporting from BritannicaZionism is a Jewish nationalist movement that aims to create and support a Jewish national state in Palestine.
For some people, the Zionist movement was an opportunity for the Jewish people to gain national liberation and be able to lead their own government. But for others, Zionism is a racist colonial project.
One of the important figures behind Zionism is Theodor Herzl. The following is a profile of Theodor Herzl.
This man, born in 1860, is called the “Father of Zionism” in modern politics. Every year on the 10th of the Hebrew month of Iyar, Israel celebrates a national holiday with “Herzl Day”.
Herzl died more than 40 years before the state of Israel was formed. However, Herzl was an organizer, propagandist and diplomat who played a major role in making Zionism an influential political movement in the world.
A writer named Gol Kalev published the book “Judaism 3.0: Judaism’s Transformation to Zionism” dedicated to Herzl.
“If we can deepen Herzl’s thinking and philosophy, we can apply it to many of today’s strategic issues, [bahkan] in a busy news cycle and world,” said Kalev, quoted from The Jerusalem Post.
Herzl’s involvement in the Zionist movement began during the Spy Case in 1894 and 1895. In this incident, a French Jewish officer, Alfred Dreyfus, was accused of being a German spy and imprisoned for life. This sparked a widespread wave of anti-Semitism in France.
Herzl, a Jewish journalist who at that time worked as a correspondent in Paris for an Austrian daily newspaper, wrote a book entitled ‘Der Judenstaat’ or ‘The Jewish State’ which was published in 1896, quoted from Egypt Today.
One of the subtitles written in the book is ‘Attempts to Find a Modern Solution to the Jewish Question’.
Herzl was also aware of the economic competition between Jews and non-Jews which ultimately gave rise to anti-Jewish hatred.
Continuing racial tensions in France and the surrounding countries made Herzl feel that Europe could no longer be a place for Jews to live.
Herzl was committed to freeing the Jewish people from European oppression. Herzl formed various schemes, such as socialist revolution and mass conversion to Christianity, as reported by History Today.
The only solution Herzl chose to fight for Jews was through a national approach. Herzl proposed to the Jewish people to form their own state.
