Today it is sixteen years ago that filmmaker Theo van Gogh was murdered. At the site where that happened, a small group gathered today to commemorate him.

The commemoration takes place every year, but due to the corona crisis, the turnout was not that great today. Despite this, a small meeting was held. That happened on Linnaeusstraat in East, the place where Van Gogh was killed by Muslim extremist Mohammed B.

On that day, Van Gogh was cycling to work around 9 a.m. when he was suddenly shot at. The perpetrator then stabbed him several times with a knife, as a result of which the filmmaker died on the spot.
