Theo Nijland’s Farewell Performance Postponed to Spring 2025: Update on his Recovery and Plans

Theo Nijland has decided to cancel the tour of his farewell performance contrived to be postponed until the spring of 2025. The 69-year-old cabaret artist is currently recovering from a cerebral haemorrhage in April.

His spokesperson says that his rehabilitation is going well, but that he is not yet strong enough to play the intensive farewell tour. For that reason contrived moved to Spring 2025.

Nijland would conclude his tour on his seventieth birthday, on May 14, 2024. After this tour he will stop with solo performances, but he will continue to write texts and music for colleagues, theater and film.

The cabaret artist now celebrates his seventieth birthday in a different way. On that evening a special tribute will take place in theater De Kleine Komedie in Amsterdam. Nijland’s friends and colleagues perform here and perform his songs.

Nijland made various performances and won in 2019 with And the rest is nonsense the Poelifinario cabaret prize for the most impressive theater program of the year.

In 2015 he received the Groenman language prize for his creative use of language. Nijland also composes a lot of music for theater and film, and he wrote lyrics for Brigitte Kaandorp, Paul de Leeuw and Nynke Laverman, among others.
