Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Indonesian athletics have high hopes to make a surprise through the appearance of sprinters, Then Muhammad Zohri, of Olympic Tokyo 2020.
As a newcomer to the Olympics, Zohri is determined to run under 10 seconds at the Tokyo Olympic Stadium, July 31 – August 1.
The PB PASI sprint coach (Commander of the All-Indonesia Athletics Association), Eni Nuraini, who directly handled Zohri’s preparations, expressed her belief that the 21-year-old runner would be able to achieve her personal goal of covering 100 meters in 10 seconds when she appeared at the Olympics.
Less than a month to Tokyo, Eni said that Lalu Zohri’s preparations had reached 90-95 percent. This percentage has increased by 10 percent since the runner from Lombok, North, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) appeared at the Tokyo Olympics test event last May.
In the event, Zohri who competed with renowned sprinter Justin Gatlin was only able to record a time of 10.34 seconds.
“In May, the maximum condition was 80-85 percent. Then. At that time he recorded a time of 10.34 but it was not optimal because it had not entered special preparations, the endurance and the start was still lacking,” said Eni to CNNIndonesia.com, Monday ( 12/7).
“Back from Japan last May, I just entered special preparations, endurance training, block start and now the results of the exercise already look better. If in practice, don’t use it block start it can be 9.5 seconds. The difference is using block start and no it’s 0.6 seconds. So he can already 10.1 seconds which is good enough,” he explained.
