fully discharged battery to full charge in less than five minutes. This is not a utopia, but in the case of the Redmi brand, which falls under Xiaomi, the demonstration of its new technology is quickly charged. She confirms this with a video she posted on the Chinese social network Weibo. It shows how quickly its new ultra-fast charger with 300W power can charge the 4,100mAh battery of the modified Redmi Note 12 Pro+ (standard has a 5,000mAh battery).
In less than two minutes, the phone’s battery is charged to half its capacity, which is enough energy for several hours of operation. In addition, the video shows how the charged power of the charger increases in the course. At five of these percentages, it runs at 250 W, then for two minutes the value stays around 280 W. It reaches its maximum at 63%, the power at that moment is just below the limit of 291 W. After that, it continuously decreases. No variable power is one of the safety precautions, also with regard to battery life.
After those minutes and 55 seconds, the battery is 100% charged, but the video would end in five minutes, so it is obvious that even at that moment the battery is being charged. The notification about the end of charging will appear on the phone’s display several seconds later.
It is not clear when we will get such fast charging support for Redmi, then Xiaomi smartphones. Current Xiaomi offers fixed models with a maximum of 120W fast charging. The exception is the Redmi Note 12 Discovery, i.e. the first commercial phone to surpass the 200W mark. It supports 210W charging. In the context of these devices, it is possible to compare how much of a leap the 300W technology represents. While in his case the 4,100 mAh battery of the modified Note 12 Pro+ was charged in five minutes, the 200 mAh battery of the Note 12 Discovery model will charge to just 66% in the same time.
Both have great results, because in the event that you are in a hurry before leaving home and find that you can run down your phone, the station will connect you to the charger for two minutes, and in such a short time you will have enough energy for several hours of operation, i.e. you the rest of the day.
Redmi is competing with the Realme brand for the first place in the market. She also tries to constantly improve this parameter, as evidenced by the GT Neo 5 model presented in the middle of the tunnel. In addition to the BN variant, it also exists in a version with support for extremely fast 240W charging. At the moment, Realme holds the lead in terms of the availability of a phone with such a powerful charge. However, Redmi has now shown that it can still be done. There is only a commercially available model that will bring this advantage to the market, let’s try to drive it.
