Jakarta –
The grave of the late mercenary boss Wagner Yevgeny Prigozhin, attacked by thieves. This incident caused a stir after the thief stole a violin near a grave located on the outskirts of Saint Petersburg, Russia.
As reported by local media RT, Friday (22/9/2023), a report by the local newspaper, Moskovsky Komsomolets, quoted a staff member at the cemetery complex as saying that security measures had been increased in the area of Prigozhin’s grave after the theft occurred. Now security at Prigozhin’s grave has been tightened to 24 hours a day.
A guard post and CCTV cameras, the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper said, had been installed in the area of Prigozhin’s grave after a violin was stolen from the burial complex.
Prigozhin, who died in a plane crash in Russia at the end of August, was buried at the Prokhorovskoe cemetery in Saint Petersburg, his hometown.
The musical instrument in the form of a violin is one of the symbols of the Wagner Group, whose soldiers were nicknamed ‘musicians’ because the mercenary group had the same name as the German classical composer, Richard Wagner.
A violin and a sledgehammer — other symbols of the Wagner Group — appeared at Prigozhin’s grave days after his private funeral on August 29.
One of the cemetery staff, who did not want to be named, said the violin, which he described as looking ‘expensive’, had been ‘stolen’ the following day. According to the staff, a cyclist was seen ‘speeding away’ from the location on the day of the theft. However, until now, the perpetrator has not been arrested.
“After that, CCTV cameras and guard posts were set up at Prigozhin’s grave,” said the cemetery staff. “Now there are security officers guarding there 24 hours,” he said.
