Theft and damage: caregivers targeted in Lille metropolitan area

The caregivers targeted by offenders ? In the metropolis of Lille, during the weekend of May 8, 2020, the police arrested several individuals suspected of theft or damage who have touched medical staff. Recently, the gendarmerie had already alerted the carers on the multiplication of robbery.

According to a judicial source, on May 9 at around 5 p.m., a man was formally recognized by the police at the Wazemmes metro station in Lille. His report matched that of the author of a telephone theft committed on April 30 on a doctor at Roger-Salengro Hospital who was on his way to work.

During his arrest, the suspect was searched and the police found three gold chains on him, the snatch of which had been reported shortly before. Formally identified by a victim, the individual was placed in police custody.

Police intervene at hospital

On the same day, around 4:25 a.m., the police encountered Bondues, a man sitting by the road. During an inspection, the officers noted that the individual appeared to be heavily alcoholic. In his bag, a computer, a keyboard and a mouse are found, as well as the clothes of hospital staff from the Saint-Roch clinic. All of these corresponded to theft committed to the detriment of a nurse. The suspect, unable to explain himself, was taken into police custody.

On May 10, at around 4:45 a.m., it was at the hospital in Tourcoing that the police intervened. A CH Dron security guard had just arrested an individual who had entered a vehicle parked in the hospital parking lot. Placed in police custody, the suspect explained that he had entered the unlocked car. He will appear in court in October 2020.

On May 8, it was in another hospital, the CH Victor-Provo in Roubaix, that the police were called. In the emergency room, a nurse said she recognized the man who stole her purse and bank card on April 28. Again, the suspect was taken into police custody.
