Theaters in Tamil Nadu Not Profiting from Blockbuster Film ‘Leo’

Entertainment Desk October 28, 2023

‘Leo’ is storming the theaters with spectacular collections. The theater owners in Tamil Nadu have come forward saying that the film jumping into the 500 crore club is not profitable for them. Tamil Nadu Theater Owners Association President Tirupur Subramania has come forward to clarify that Leo is not profitable for them.

Before the film’s release, there was a disagreement between the producer and the theater owners regarding revenue sharing. The producers, Seven Screen Studios, had asked theatergoers to pay them 80 percent of the film’s collection.

In protest against this, theaters in Chennai had initially decided to boycott Leo. But the issues were resolved after the discussions that took place later. But the theaters say that Leo is not profitable at all because of the high share purchase.

”Leo is not profitable for us. This is because of the high share they buy. This is unprecedented in Tamil Nadu. It was a conscious decision by many theater owners not to screen Leo. As this high percentage of sharing continues, theater management will become difficult.”

“There is no accounting for Leo’s actual collection. Producer Lalit Kumar is presenting some figures as he felt. 5 crores out of pocket to make fake bookings at foreign locations.”

” and then make believe that it is booked by the real audience. The producer is doing all this to win Vijay’s favor. Tiruppur Subramaniam stated that the general body of the organization is calling a meeting next month to discuss the issue of producers demanding a higher share.
