In the middle of September, the Liepāja Theater will become a place where you can musically travel more than 300 years into the past. Gorgeous costumes from the Rococo era, historical musical instruments and the voices of singers, baroque court gestures, movements and dances will conjure the mood of the theater of the second half of the 17th century.
The opera tells the story of a love triangle between the mortal shepherd Akida, the immortal sea nymph Galatea and the terrifying Cyclops, the giant Polyphemus, but under the direction of the director Darta Nora Pauļukas-Sadlovska, the exciting love story will survive the vicissitudes of 18th century courtiers’ passions in a stylized way.
