After Lost Illusions after Balzac welcomed in 2021, Pauline Bayle continues her exploration of initiatory stories and draws here on the work of Virginia Woolf. With Les Vagues as its starting point, the piece is nourished by a multitude of extracts from the author’s novels, her essays, her diary, and her correspondence. She then invites us to follow the destiny of a group of friends and recounts the dazzlement of childhood and the disenchantment of adulthood. We experience moments snatched from everyday life, moments stolen over time. Following in the footsteps of the six friends, we follow the way in which each one forges their existence.
Throughout the show, the interior monologues become vibrant words brought to life by the bodies and voices of its actors, in a changing stage space with a theatrical intensity commensurate with the crazy literary ambition of Virginia Woolf.
