Photo: Matthias Stutte – – Krefeld For blind and visually impaired visitors, the theater on Sunday, December 5th, offers an acoustic image description via headphones for the operetta “Salon Pitzelberger & Co.”. (RP) The Theater Krefeld und Mönchengladbach would like to pave the way for blind and visually impaired people to the theater by offering audio description for selected performances of the music theater. The last time there was this opportunity was a performance of Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” in December 2019 – then came the corona pandemic and further plans were initially put on hold. It is all the more gratifying that there will be a new offer on Sunday, December 5th, with the operetta “Salon Pitzelberger & Co.”. – In the audio description, the visual signs of the performance such as stage design, costumes or the visible course of action are made accessible to the blind and visually impaired by means of live description. The comments will be spoken live during the performance so that the blind and visually impaired can receive them via transmitters with headphones. – “The voice” of the audio description is music theater dramaturge Ulrike Aistleitner. It will describe what is happening on the stage live from a place in the light and sound signal box and bring the blind and visually impaired visitors closer to the plot and the stage design. In preparation, Ulrike Aistleitner uses the video recording of the dress rehearsal and makes notes about when she will explain which action or which image. “I’m right in the audience’s ears,” says the dramaturge happily. – The financing of the technical equipment was taken over by the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Krefeld. The introduction for the blind and visually impaired begins at 6 p.m., the performance at 7.30 p.m. – – .
