Mönchengladbach. The long wait since the lockdown in November 2020 has come to an end: The Mönchengladbach Theater will be able to open its doors to the public again from May 22, thanks to the declining incidence figures in the city and their participation in the model municipal project – in Krefeld, theater lovers will probably still have to go be patient, probably until May 29th.
The theater had maintained the rehearsals and the work behind the scenes in compliance with all necessary corona regulations in order to be ready to go when the curtain can open again. Several pieces were therefore “on hold” for months – they are all now being shown in a lively series of premieres: five in six days – a record for the stage in Mönchengladbach!
It starts on Saturday 22. May With “Salon Pitzelberger & Co.”, an Opérette bouffe in one act with music by Jacques Offenbach in a German text version by Ulrich Proschka.
On Sunday the 23. May celebrates the ballet evening “All things new” Premiere with choreographies by Robert North, Marco A. Carlucci, Takashi Kondo and Yoko Takahashi.
On Monday the 24. May comes with „Welttheater Mozart“ a singspiel by Karine Van Hercke and Francois De Carpentries with music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart for the world premiere.
Immediately after the weekend of Pentecost, the big premiere line-up continues: on Tuesday, 25. May the theater shows Arthur Schnitzler’s for the first time “Round dance” directed by Maja Delinić.
On Thursday the 27. May Donizetti’s opera finally arrives “Don Pasquale”, staged by Ansgar Weigner, on the stage.
All performances start at 7.30 p.m., last around 90 minutes and are played without breaks. As before the last lockdown, the theater has to reduce its seating capacity significantly and can therefore only offer 190 seats per performance. The distance rule in the auditorium is thereby observed.
Anyone planning a visit should know that they can only come to the theater with a negative corona test (so-called “self-tests” are excluded), which must not be older than 48 hours. Uncomplicated testing in the immediate vicinity of the theater is also possible: the Arbeiterwohlfahrt Mönchengladbach at Limitenstraße 64-78 has increased its capacity for quick tests and adjusted the opening times especially for theater-goers. More information is available from the AWO on 02166/399 670 or by e-mail :[email protected].
Vaccinated people who received their second vaccination at least two weeks ago and those who have recovered from a corona infection are also welcome. Everyone has to submit the relevant evidence (vaccination certificate and / or certificates) before attending an interview. In addition, it is mandatory to wear an FFP2 mask in all rooms of the theater and during the performance.
A special traceability of the visitors takes place digitally via the ticket allocation system Reservix of the box office. Each time a ticket is booked, the contact details are requested and saved in the sales system.
Viewers can support this tracking by registering in the theater using the Corona warning app by scanning a QR code before going to the theater.
Unfortunately, theater catering cannot resume operations yet.
Advance sales for all events up to and including June 6th will start on May 21st at 10 a.m. both online and at the box office in Mönchengladbach. The ticket office is open from 10 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Whit Sunday and Whit Monday only the box office opens to pick up tickets that have already been pre-ordered. Subscribers receive the admission tickets at their subscription price.
