Thousands of students have passed through the classrooms ofl Faustina Álvarez Student Education Center throughout these 25 years in its various teachings: Initial, face-to-face and distance Secondary, preparation of Free Tests to obtain the ESO degree, access to Higher Level Training Cycles and the University for people over 25 and 40 years old, Competences Professionals in Microcomputer Systems and Basic Competences in English, IT and Cultural and Artistic, Carpentry…
A few days ago, as one more act of the many that have been carried out to commemorate his silver weddingsa play has been performed, The True and Unique Story of the Princess and the Dragon, by José Luis Alonso de Santos from Valladolid, one of our most important playwrights in recent decades and author of such well-known works as Bajarse al Moro and The Vallecas tobacconist.
The Language and Literature students of 3rd year of Secondary read this fun play and are encouraged to perform it, dragging with them their Language and History teachers, Rosa Ludeña and Francisco Rodríguez, who have directed them in the rehearsals during all these months in those that have been of everything, nerves, doubts, continuous changes of roles and, above all, many laughs until reaching the day of the premiere.
It is worth noting the great satisfaction of the students for the work and effort made, which has been rewarded not only with applause at the premiere, but also with congratulations from its author, Alonso de Santos, who was kind enough to reply to an email sent from the Center.
The little princess Peladilla (Jesús Díez) and the soldier (Héctor Barcia) comment that the play has helped the group to work like a pineapple and strengthen a amistad that will no longer end with obtaining the title of ESO. They have also become aware that there is no limit that cannot be overcome with effort and dedication.
To our particular gentleman, Pelón de Ardilla (Carlos Fernández), it has served as an incentive to overcome his initial shyness and to reach the end of the course and walk away proud with the title of Secondary. Others, like El Tonto de Capirote (Ana Belén Fernández), have discovered a new facet that they no longer want to abandon. She now realizes where her eldest daughter’s love for the theater comes from.
From now on, some students/actors will continue at the Center, others will embark on a new path in their studies, to improve professionally. They dedicated the last words of the performed work to all of them: “He who lives without love, without living he will live.”
